Every classic iconic figure has a visual aesthetic. From musicians to models to actors, style, and having one of your own, has always been key to the survival of a name. Some obvious ones, think Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and Madonna, have started fashion trends that will survive through decades and fads alike. That's a model, actress, AND a rock star all defined by a distinct fashion demeanor. This is why EveryGuard's in house design agency, Moxy Creative, along with illustrator James Alexander, created "Ensemble: The Style of Music," illustrating the Iconic Outfits from 20 Male Musicians. Music is in no way only about a song, and fashion isn't only about the clothes. And that way it will stay.
Sorry I've been a little MIA lately. As much as I'd like blogging to be my number one job (even my number two job would suffice!), it is not :(
Maybe someday.

What a smart looking book. To distill and capture a musician's presence by breaking down his outfits. NICE. The only one that I probably wouldn't have guessed was strangely enough, the man in black: Johnny Cash. I guess with out his awkward and gaunt frame that black suit could be anybody's.

ReplyDeleteWow, what a fabulous idea for an illustration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat little book. Keith Richards--in the Gimme Shelter doc especially--is one of my fashion muses/icons...I would love a whole book about his style :)
